Before 1980 building underlays did not exist as we know it. DuPont™ created a synthetic product that could be cut but not torn, and which allowed moisture vapour to pass through but nothing else. Tyvek® was born and after 30 years of category leadership and millions of installations, DuPont™ Tyvek® is still the builder’s choice in the weather tightness system throughout the U.S.A.

The Pink® Batts® insulation team is now partnering with DuPont™ to distribute Tyvek® building envelope solutions in New Zealand. We believe our partnership will bring together proven product quality, experience and a no-nonsense service promise you can rely on. 

Tyvek® is manufactured and supplied by DuPont™ Australia Pty Ltd to Tasman as authorised NZ distributor.  Information about Tyvek® products has been provided by DuPont™/Tyvek®.

Performance beyond protection with Tyvek® 

DuPont™ Tyvek® building envelope solutions provide a balance of four properties to maintain the protection, comfort and efficiency of the building:

• Air resistance to help prevent the flow of air through cavities and reduce drafts
• Moisture resistance to help protect against water
• Moisture vapour permeability to promote drying
• Durability to withstand rigours of the construction process

Defining the difference

DuPont™ Tyvek® is made from single-layer high-density polyethylene composed of millions of microfibres spun-bound in a maze-like structure. The structure and patented technology of the Tyvek® membrane provides

• excellent resistance to UV with a comfortable 120-day exposure limit
• temperature resistance up to 100°C

The DuPont™ Tyvek® building envelope solution range includes roof underlays, wall underlays and tapes.The product range is CodeMark certified, offers 15 years warranty and holds Environmental Product Declaration.*

DuPont™ Tyvek® roof underlays 

• DuPont™ Tyvek® Supro/ Supro Plus: Fire-retardant synthetic roof underlay to provide strong resistance against air and moisture with excellent water vapour permeability. In addition to Supro, Dupont™ Tyvek® Supro Plus has an integrated tape system for ease of in-situ edge sealing.
• DuPont™ Tyvek® Metal: Roofing underlay which helps drain away the condensation that builds up beneath the cladding on standing seam metal sheet roofs and improves overall air tightness

DuPont™ Tyvek® wall underlays

• Dupont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®: Original fire-retardant house wrap to help protect homes against damaging wind and rain should the exterior cladding be compromised

DuPont™ Tyvek® tapes 

• DuPont™ Tyvek® FlexWrap™: Self adhered butyl flashing that helps prevent water intrusion at window and door sills without mechanical fasteners
• DuPont™ Flashing Tape: Premium performance self-adhered flashing tape that can be applied over a wide range of building substrates including timber, concrete, fibre-cement, ply etc.
• Tyvek® Contractor Tape: Specially designed to create the best adhesion to DuPont™ Tyvek® building envelope solutions for continuous seal at all seams against air and water penetration
